Falcons win four events at Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis.  – The CUW women's track & field team shined on Saturday at the UW-Whitewater Karl Schlender Invitational. The Falcons walked away with four individual titles.

Junior Megan Curran (Spring Grove, Ill.) claimed the crown in the weight throw with a mark of 15.95 meters, two meters ahead of second place. Sophomore Alyssa Knier (Reedsville, Wis.) was in fifth place at 11.70 meters.

Curran was also the champion in the shot put at 11.91 meters. Knier was once again in fifth-place at 10.48 meters.

Sophomore Mackenzie Larsen (Appleton, Wis.) was the champion in the 3000-meter run on Saturday with a winning time of 11:37.82. Freshman Micah Hill (Camdenton, Mo.) had a third-place time of 12:08.21.

Junior Alden Goucher (Port Charlotte, Fla.) was the fastest runner in the 400-meter dash at 1:06.10 on Saturday afternoon. She was more than a second faster than the second-place finisher.

The team of Alden Goucher, junior LaNea Bartel (Kewaunee, Wis.), freshman Madison Chiappetta (Lenexa, Kan.) and freshman Lindsay Pluister (Woodridge, Ill.) recorded a second-place time of 4:37.06 in the 4x400 meter relay.

The high jump saw sophomore Jordyn Schmidt (Manitowoc, Wis.) record a third-place mark of 1.51 meters. She also secured a sixth-place finish in the long jump at 4.38 meters.

Freshman Paige Winterfeldt (Roseville, Minn.) was fourth at pole vault at 2.83 meters on Saturday.

LaNea Bartel led the Blue and White in the 600-meter run in fourth place at 1:48.71.

Junior Megan Sprinkman (Kohler, Wis.) secured sixth-place times of 8.54 in the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash at 28.62.

Freshman Alexandria Hood (Grayslake, Ill.) crossed the finish line at 10.69 in sixth place in the 60-meter hurdles.

The Falcons will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Ripon.
