Falcons Pick up a Road Win at Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Falcons took care of business on the road on Saturday afternoon at Rockford. The Blue and White picked up a 4-0 victory to improve to 7-1-0 and remain undefeated in the NACC at 6-0-0.

Junior Karoline Slick (Bergen, Norway) wasted no time throwing the ball into the back of the net. She scored 57 seconds into the match with a shot outside of the box.

In the 11th minute, senior Allison McElwee (Laramie, Wyo.) found the back of the net off a pass from Karoline Haugland.

Junior Selena Esten (Cedarburg, Wis.) joined the scoring party in the 18th minute off a pass from McElwee.

The final goal of the first half came from Karoline Haugland in the 28th minute with sophomore Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.) adding the assist.

Freshman Maddy Pertle (Orland Park, Ill.) scored her first collegiate goal on a header off a corner from sophomore Anna Gong (Phoenix, Ariz.) in the 83rd minute.

Senior Kaeley Sterkel (Dana Point, Calif.) earned the victory in net on Saturday afternoon. Both freshman Brooke Braga (Belgium, Wis.) and junior Naomi Gruben (Sheboygan, Wis.) saw time between the pipes and Gruben secured both saves.

The Falcons held a 27-5 advantage in shots on Saturday afternoon.

Selena Esten led the match with eight shots.

CUW will stay in Illinois and take on Illinois Wesleyan on Sunday.
