Wrestling travels to NWA Tournament on Saturday
MEQUON,
Wis. - Concordia University Wisconsin's wrestling program
travels to Sheboygan, Wis., on Saturday to compete in the Northern
Wrestling Association Tournament held on Lakeland College's
campus.
The Tournament begins at 9 a.m. and features live video and live updates.
Highlighted by a dramatic 22-21 dual win over LC on
Feb. 8, the Falcon wrestling team will enter the NWA Tournament
meet with confidence and a number of individuals who have the
chance to perform well.
Freshman Greg Sanders (San Antonio, Texas) has led the
team throughout the season, carrying a 32-4 record at 141 lbs., and
is considered the conference favorite at that weight class.
Freshman Sean Ambrocio (San Antonio, Texas) is
currently 26-14 at 125 lbs., and picked up a pair of conference
wins last week and will contend for a title on Saturday.
Junior Marcus Lubner (Fredonia, Wis.) recently
returned from an injury in January and picked up wins over LC and
MSOE last week. The 133-pounder is two-time defending champion and
will enter the conference meet with a 15-5 record.
Freshman Jake Reuteler (New Berlin, Wis.) scored a key
pin last Wednesday to help the Falcons defeat the Muskies. Reuteler
(13-14 at 174 lbs.) also won a decision against MSOE last
Friday.
Junior Shane Brandl (Clinton, Wis.) and sophomore Seth
Kilkelly (Mt. Horeb, Wis.) have been splitting time and posted
impressive wins in the dual victory over LC.
"MSOE will be the favorite heading in," head coach
Bret Corner said. "They have been consistent all year, but anything
can happen on Saturday."
