Falcons win a key NACC Battle against Benedictine

MEQUON, Wis.- The Falcons had a bright and sunny day at Fitting Field on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Hannah Beyer (Wayside, Wis.) flung the first goal of the game into the net just 30 seconds into the first half. Her goal was assisted by junior Kat Oryzczyn (Mukwonago, Wis.).

Benedictine would come away with two goals shortly after.

Beyer struck again with the third goal for the Falcons, assisted by junior Sarah Pearson (South Range, Wis.).

Freshman Savannah Schweiger (Eagle, Wis.) would join in on the fun with an unassisted goal just 18 minutes left in the first half.

Oryszczyn had an unassisted goal a minute after Schweiger.

With less than eight minutes left in the first half, Freshman Eliana Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.) scored a goal, assisted by Beyer.

Beyer would complete a hat trick with six minutes left in the half.

The Blue and White went into halftime leading the Eagles 7-5.

Benedictine would not hide in the shadows as they were first to fire a goal in the second half to only be down by one point, but not for long.

Junior Megan McPike (Mequon, Wis.) scored two goals back to back to improve the Falcons score to 9-6.

Beyer would score her fourth goal of the game, assisted by teammate McPike.

Benedictine scored two goals with 22 minutes left in the game to only be down by two points.

McPike scored again with 19 minutes left in the game, assisted by Fuchs.

Beyer landed her fifth goal of the game, assisted by Pearson.

McPike slipped in one last goal on a free position shot to increase the Falcons lead 13-10.

Beyer added her sixth and final goal with seven minutes left, assisted by McPike.

Beyer secured the leader board with six goals for the Falcons.

McPike added three assists.

Senior Mallory Gurin (Westfield, Ind.) saw 21 shots, saving 10 of them.

The Falcons head to Marian on Tuesday, April 20, at 7 PM.
