Vikings pillage the Falcons

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The CUW women's lacrosse team closed its weekend tour of Illinois on Sunday with a 19-9 loss at Augustana.

The Falcons struck first on Sunday off the stick of junior Kat Oryszczyn (Mukwonago, Wis.). She gave the Falcons the lead again at 2-1 with a free position goal.

CUW pushed the lead up to 4-2 with goals from Oryszczyn and senior Hannah Beyer (Wayside, Wis.).

The Vikings closed the first half on a 7-1 run. Isabela Noyle scored the lone CUW goal in the run.

The Falcons opened the second half on a 2-0 run with goals from freshman Asiana Cothran (Baltimore, Md.) and freshman Savannah Schweiger (Eagle, Wis.).

The Yellow and Blue added four more goals before freshman Olivia Niego (La Grange, Ill.) found the back of the net.

Kat Oryszczyn scored the final point of the day for the Blue and White.

Senior Mallory Gurin (Westfield, Ind.) secured eight saves on Sunday.

CUW looks to return to its winning ways on Saturday against Benedictine.
