Haen, Zastrow improve at NCAA Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – Kayla Haen and Maddy Zastrow moved up the leaderboard on Wednesday during the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship at El Campeon Golf Course.  Concordia Wisconsin shot a 400 and is in 25th on the leaderboard.

THE BASICS
Course: Mission Inn Resort & Club – El Campeon Golf Course (par 73, 5,804 yards)
Team Leaderboard: 25th of 25 (390-400 – 790)
Falcon Individuals: Kayla Haen (94-91 – 185), Maddy Zastrow (98-94 – 192), Molly Mundinger (96-99 – 195), Abbie Haller (102-116 – 218), Amy Carpenter (113-116 – 229)

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior Hayla Haen (Appleton, Wis.) was three shots better than the opening round and moved up three spots on the leaderboard. She began on the back half of the course and began with a par of the 10th hole. She had three more pars to finish with a 44, before adding three more pars for a 47 and 91 total strokes.
- Senior Maddy Zastrow (Greendale, Wis.) improved the most of any Falcon in the lineup and was four shots better than Tuesday's round. She drained a pair of birdie putts on par 3s and added two more pars for a 5-over par 42 on the back nine of the course. The righty had 94 total strokes on the day.
- Concordia Wisconsin shot a 400 on the day and has 790 total strokes through 36 holes.
- Freshman Molly Mundinger (West Bend, Wis.) had a 99, which included five pars and six bogeys throughout her round. Freshman Abbie Haller (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) shot a 116 and made five bogey putts on the back nine of the course. Freshman Amy Carpenter (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) recorded a 116 as well and sunk two par and bogey putts during her round.

BEYOND THE RESULTS
- Claremont Mudd Scripps stayed in first place as a team after shooting a 317 on Wednesday for a 628 total.
- Margaret Loncki (Claremont Mudd Scripps) and Navika Kuchakulla (New York University) are tied atop the leaderboard as individuals with a 152 total.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- Concordia Wisconsin will compete in the third round of the NCAA Division III Championship with its first tee time set for 7:30 am ET, and they will be paired with St. Vincent.
