Falcon women host Wisconsin Lutheran Thursday
MEQUON, Wis.
-- Concordia University Wisconsin, 13-3 in conference play, had
hoped for a win Tuesday and tonight to move into a tie for first
place in the NAC.
Fans unable to make it to the game can follow the
action via live video or live
statistics.
Lakeland College scuttled that plan with a 54-50 victory over CUW
on Tuesday and now the Falcons host Wisconsin Lutheran
College (15-1) this evening, trailing the Warriors by two
conference games with just two left to play.
WLC is loaded with athleticism, but one KEY for
CUW will stopping senior Rachel Johnson, who does everything well.
Johnson averages 12 points, eight rebounds, and two steals per
game. Jet-quick guard Shavon Dillon scores 11.6 points and gets
three steals per outing. Warrior pressure forced CUW into numerous
first half turnovers the last time these teams met.
WLC outscores opponents by almost 13 points per outing
and has been dominant on the boards. In a 70-60 win over head coach
Stacey Brunner-Jones' Falcons earlier this season, the Warriors
broke from a 17-17 tie to take control (35-21) by halftime.
The Falcons have had shooting woes in recent
weeks, firing away at a meagre 32 percent in Tuesday's loss at
Lakeland. Sophomore Katie Luethe (Oshkosh, Wis.) leads CUW's
balanced scoring at 13.3 per outing, but the forward hit
only 5-of-20 shots against the Muskies.
Students can pick up their blue FALCON TALON T's at
the game this evening.
