MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia University Wisconsin held Alverno College scoreless for the first nine minutes, building a 12-0 lead on the way to a 79-62 win over the struggling Inferno Wednesday night in the R. John Buuck Field House during Northern Athletics Conference play.

CUW's lead never dipped below 10 points during the entire evening as the Falcons shot an impressive 53 percent from the field and poured in 17-of-20 free throw attempts.

The master of marksmanship for CUW was senior Brittney Toles (South Beloit, Ill.) who hit all seven of her shots from the field on the way to a career-best 19 point performance.

Head coach Stacey Brunner-Jones' team led 33-16 at the break and the margin mushroomed to 24 points with just under 12 minutes remaining in the game.

CUW sophomore Katie Luethe (Oshkosh, Wis.) added 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting and junior Brittany Zietlow (Oak Creek, Wis.) led the Falcon rebounding stat sheet with nine.

Alicia Konkowski scored 18 points and Alyssa Jensen added 15 for the Inferno.

CUW, 13-2 in conference action, travels to Lakeland College, 8-5 in the league, next Tuesday in an attempt to avenge one of their two NAC defeats.

Lakeland's win over Wisconsin Lutheran last evening was the first conference loss for WLC (13-1) and reignited the Falcon's regular season championship hopes. CUW hosts WLC next Thursday before traveling to Maranatha on Saturday, February 11th to close out the regular season. Wins in all three games could give Concordia a fifth Northern Divison title in the past six seasons.
