Softball honored by NFCA for academic success

LOUISVILLE – The 2016 Concordia University Wisconsin Softball team had a terrific season on the diamond. The Falcons won 26 games and finished tied for second in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. It turns out, while CUW was good on the field, they were even better in the classroom, being recognized by the NFCA for outstanding academic success in 2016.

The Falcons had a team GPA of 3.43, which ranked 31st of all NCAA Division III teams last season. The GPA was the highest among NACC schools and ranked the Falcons inside the top ten percent of all Division III programs. Just 92 total schools received Easton/NFCA All-Academic status last season.

In addition to the team award, the Falcons had eight players receive NFCA Scholar-Athlete recognition by maintaining a 3.5 or better GPA. Those players were Melissa Perkins, Lexi Holsten, Carly Sobrilsky, Emily Brekke, Deidra Weinberger, Emma Fullenkamp, Sara Rosenow, and Maddie Zazas.
