#CUWStatsInfo: Perkins owns Softball career wins mark

MEQUON, Wis. – Since joining the Concordia University Wisconsin Softball program four years ago, Melissa Perkins has been played a major factor in the success of the Falcons. Pitching at least once in nearly every doubleheader of her career, Perkins can add Falcons Career Wins leader to her impressive resume, an accomplish she reached earlier this season.

Perkins now has 49 career victories. She entered the year with 42, trailing only Sarah Rennicke (43) and Danielle Burke (46). She recorded her 47th win at Trinity Christian on March 28 and has since beat Alverno and Lakeland in conference play.

#CUWStatsInfo breaks down the Seniors career thus far and some key numbers behind her record-setting win total.

16 – Perkins has twice won 16 games in her career, which are the two highest win totals for the Falcons in a season. She totaled 16 victories her freshman year (16-7) and also posted a 16-8 record last season. She added 10 wins her sophomore season.

39 – Perkins has made 73 starts in her career and 39 of those occasions she tossed a complete game. Last season, she threw 15 complete games, while adding 11 her freshman year. Her complete games total is most of players since the 2007 season for the Falcons.

2.97 – The senior from Park Forest, Ill. owns a 2.97 career ERA entering games this weekend. She had her best season in terms of ERA in 2014, registering a 2.02 mark.

104 – Perkins has made 104 appearances in the circle in her impressive career, the most of any playing during at least the NACC era (2007-present) for the Falcons. She has started 73 of those games, which also leads all players in the NACC era.

97 – Perhaps the most impressive number in Perkins career is the few walks she has issued. In 483.2 innings she has issued just 97 walks. Of those 97, nearly half (48) came in her freshman season.

Perkins and the Falcons will return to the diamond this weekend for a pair of NACC doubleheaders as she looks to add to her career-record wins total. CUW visits Marian Saturday before hosting Aurora Sunday.
