Sytsma’s Two Goals Lead Men’s Soccer to Victory

Box Score: NCC 1, CUW 2

MEQUON, Wis. -
It took Kyle Sytsma and the Concordia University Wisconsin men's soccer team less than eight minutes to score twice and they eventually held off a determined North Central College squad for a 2-1 non-conference victory on Saturday afternoon at Fitting Field.

CUW (6-4-0) gained control of the ball and marched down the field faster than the fans had time to settle in their seats. Senior Jacob Streicher (West Allis, Wis.) recorded his fourth assist of the season after connecting with Sytsma on a crossing pass for the first tally just 1:46 into the contest.

Sytsma (junior, Antioch, Ill.) scored his second goal of the match - sixth goal of the season - after junior Jason Rogers (Glendale, Wis.) found him less than six minutes later to put the Falcons in front 2-0.

The match was at a virtual stalemate over the next 50 minutes until the Cardinal's (6-2-0) Jake Johnson found the back of the net to cut the deficit in half, 2-1.

The box score was nearly identical, with the Falcons holding a slight three-shot advantage.

CUW returns to Northern Athletics Conference play for the remainder of the season starting on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 4 p.m. with a match against Maranatha Baptist Bible College.
