Men's Golf takes step forward in 2018-19

MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia Wisconsin continues to takes steps forward as a program and those on the Men's Golf roster enter the summer with confidence and a sense of readiness after an important 2018-19 season.

The Falcons earned nine top-10 finishes in tournaments that featured at least nine teams and won the Wisconsin Luthern Spring Invitational. While the results were impressive, the scores dropped significantly throughout the season. It was on April 23 that they shattered the school's 18-hole team score by eight strokes after firing a 290 score at the Carthage Spring Invitational.

While the team performed well throughout the fall and spring, there were many bright spots individually. Junior Sam Schlosser (West Bend, Wis.) again led the lineup in scoring average at 76.5 and tied the low 18-hole individual score of 69 during the first round of the Knox Invitational (March 30). Meanwhile, six of his teammates averaged in the 70s. Junior Andrew Otto (Kewaskum, Wis.) averaged 77.3, good for second on the team.

It was junior Nate Benjamin (Tucson, Ariz.) and junior Dylan Karvala (New Berlin, Wis.) who earned All-NACC honors this season after finishing fifth and ninth, respectively, while helping the Falcons place third as a team at the NACC Championship.

With the addition of transfer Wyatt Wilderman (junior, Waukesha, Wis.) prior to the second semester and the return of sophomore Jordan Carlton (Kewaskum, Wis.) who had six rounds in the 70s, the lineup has begun to take shape for the 2019-20 season. This past season saw the Falcons shoot five of the 10 lowest team rounds in program history and they bested the previous 72-hole total set last year by 32 strokes.

Needless to say, the Falcons are primed and ready for a big 2019-20 season.
