Sadiq fires 79, Men's Golf in sixth after two rounds of NACC Championship

HAVEN, Wis. – Scoring during the second round of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship improved, but Concordia University Wisconsin's Men's Golf team stayed in sixth place after playing the par 72, 6,750 yard Irish Course at Whistling Straits.

CUW carded a 330 total in the second round, a nine shot improvement, and has a 669 team total. Sophomore Mike Loftus (Germantown, Wis.) leads the Falcons with a two-day 165 total (84-81), which is good for a tie for 20th.

Edgewood College leads all teams with a 611 total (312-299), while MSOE is in second place with a 639 team total (313-326). Patrick Cahill (Edgewood College) and Kenny Rucker (Edgewood College) each shot a two-day total of 148 (76-72) to tie for first. Kyle Bruce (Edgewood College) is in third with a 10-over-par total of 154.

Loftus drained 11 pars and a birdie on the par-4 ninth hole to shoot three strokes better than Sunday's round. He is one of three CUW golfers to improve in the second round.

Junior Chris Payne (Waukesha, Wis.) is tied for 26th after shooting a 168 total (81-87). He made four par putts and back-to-back birdies on the second and third holes.

Freshman Oliver Sadiq (Elkhart Lake, Wis.) shot the lowest round during the two days for the Falcons after signing for a 79 on Monday. His 168 total (89-79) is also tied for 26th position. Sadiq improved 10 strokes on the second day after sinking 11 pars, including five in a row, and a birdie on the third hole. His second round 79 is one shot off his career low.

Sophomore Bill Jones (New Holstein, Wis.) fired a 170 total (87-83) and is tied for 30th place. He bettered his opening round score by four strokes after making 10 pars and closing with a birdie on the 18th hole.

Freshman Evan Rabas (Sherwood, Wis.) signed for a 179 total (87-92) and is 45th. He made five pars during his second round.

The third and fourth rounds of the NACC Championship are scheduled for Apr. 21-22 at Stronebridge Country Club in Aurora, Ill.
