Field Hockey Tramples Transylvania

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Falcons picked up a big Southern Athletic Association (SAA) victory on Saturday morning with a 4-0 victory on Saturday morning. The victory sends CUW to 5-5 on the year and to 2-2 in the SAA.

The scoring started in the sixth minute on Saturday with junior Berit Poirier (Vista, Calif.) scoring off an assist from senior Olivia Riemer (Ballwin, Mo.).

The Falcons picked up two more goals in the second quarter when junior Renee Lund (Vista, Calif.) found the back of the cage in the 22nd minute and then senior Lorri Pitock (Naperville, Ill.) scored off an assist in the 27th minute from senior Donna Pitock (Naperville, Ill.).

Freshman Katelyn Cardinale (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) scored her first goal as a Falcon in the 55th minute of an Olivia Riemer assist.

Senior Emily Binley (Suffolk, Va.) extended the shutout streak to three contests with three saves in the victory.

The Falcons held a 6-3 advantage in shots on Saturday. Lorri Pitock led CUW with two.

The Blue and White will bus up to Ohio to take on Wooster on Sunday.
