Football Quartet Earn D3football.com All-Region Honors
MEQUON, Wis. – On Wednesday, D3football.com announced its All-Region Teams. The Concordia Wisconsin football program landed four honorees onto the Region 5 Teams. CUW had Evan Lischka and Luke Droegemueller on the second team and Justice Kaneta and Marquiton Sellers on the third team.
NCAA Division III realigned Division III football into six regions in 2021. Region 5 includes the American Rivers Conference, the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, the Midwest Conference and the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC).
A freshman punter from Cumming, Georgia, Luke Droegemueller is making his first All-Region Team. Droegemueller pinned back offenses with 16 punts inside of the 20-yard line and averaged 36.6 yards per punt. Against Wisconsin Lutheran, he had six within the 20, including two inside the five-yard line.
A senior defensive back from Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Evan Lischka is claiming his first All-Region honor. Lischka led the NACC with only playing in eight games with five interceptions and 10 passes defended. He finished the year with 34 total tackles, two tackles for a loss, and forced and recovered a fumble for a touchdown. He had interceptions against Lakeland, Wisconsin Lutheran, Concordia Chicago and two against Benedictine.
A junior linebacker from Brighton, Colorado, Justice Kaneta is appearing on his first All-Region Team. Kaneta led the conference in 2023 with 99 total tackles and three interceptions returned for a touchdown. He finished the campaign with three sacks for 29 yards, 9.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, four interceptions and two passes broken up. Earlier in December, Kaneta was also named the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) Player of the Year.
A sophomore defensive lineman from Winnsboro, Louisiana, Marquiton Sellers is claiming his first All-Region honor. He finished the 2023 campaign with 34 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 5.5 tackles for a loss. He had eight tackles against Northwestern and seven against Lakeland, including the game-winning tackles.
The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) landed a total of 19 student-athletes on the 2023 D3football.com All-Region 5 teams. Concordia University Wisconsin received four all-region honors, while Benedictine University, Eureka College, St. Norbert College, and Wisconsin Lutheran College received one apiece.
he teams, selected in balloting by Region 5 sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 155 nominations by full Division III member schools. A total of 76 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 15, in D3football.com's pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl 50.
