NAC Football Awards: Damaschke is Co-Freshman of the Year
WAUKESHA,
WIS. -- Concordia University Wisconsin's first year
quarterback Austin Damaschke (Bristol, Wis.) was named Northern
Athletics Conference Co-Freshman of the Year, the league announced
Friday morning. Damaschke completed over 53 percent of his passes
for 1,517 yards (151.7 per game), 16 touchdowns and eight
interceptions for the 4-3 Falcons.
CUW senior offensive lineman Matthew Laabs (Manitowoc,
Wis.) earned first team honors, while junior linebacker Matt Upson
(New Berlin, Wis.) and senior defensive back Justin Rogers
(Milwaukee, Wis.) made the first team defensive squad.
Falcon junior wide receiver Eric West (Plymouth, Wis.)
was a second team offense choice as was senior offensive lineman
Alex Lawton (Hinsdale, Ill.). Junior Matt Lechler (New Holstein,
Wis.) earned second team defensive honors for CUW.
Senior defensive back Joe Moro (Johnsburg, Ill.) was
CUW's representative on the All-Sportsmanship team.
Benedictine's John Borsellino was named the Player of
the Year. Borsellino established single-season school records for
touchdowns (17), carries (234) and rushing yards (1,282) for NAC
Champion Benedictine University.
