Football’s pass defense ranked No. 2 in latest NCAA football rankings
MEQUON, Wis. - Concordia
University Wisconsin's defense has shutdown opposing quarterbacks
and receivers all season, and has been ranked in the top-10
nationally in Division III for the final seven weeks of the year.
In the latest national statistical rankings, Nov. 12, the Falcons'
pass defense ranks No. 2 overall having allowed just 122.6 yards
per game.
CUW's (4-6 overall) defense as a
whole has been difficult to face this season as it is ranked 36th
in the nation having allowed 291.4 yards per game. The Falcons held
five opponents under 300 yards and three under 200 yards of total
offense.
In the Northern Athletics
Conference the Falcons owned the top pass defense by 26 yards over
rival Wisconsin Lutheran College. CUW also had the second ranked
defense in the conference.
Freshman cornerback Connor Halley
(Boca Raton, Fla.) and senior cornerback Justin Rogers (Milwaukee,
Wis.) led the defensive unit with two interceptions apiece. Rogers
also led all defensive backs with six pass breakups, two fumble
recoveries and 46 tackles - 37 solo.
