Softball takes the first game at Concordia Chicago

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The CUW softball team continued non-conference play with a pair of games at Concordia Chicago. The Falcons won game one, 6-4, but fell in game two, 1-4.

The Falcons scored four runs in the first inning of game one. Senior Kelsey Bollon doubled to left-center field to score freshman Madison Wheat and freshman Sydney Erdmann.

Sophomore Gabbi Gaziano then singled to center field to score senior Jenna Pozezinski and Kelsey Bollon.

The Cougars fought back with a run in the third and fourth inning.

Sydney Erdmann scored Gaziano in the fifth inning to push the lead to four runs.

Junior Gina Followell had nine strikeouts in the start. Junior Nicki Becker earned the victory with five strikeouts.

Gabbi Gaziano led CUW with two hits and three RBI.

Game two got off to a bumpy start for the Falcons with four CUC runs in the first two innings.

Jenna Pozezinski had a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning to score Kelsey Bollon.

Junior Alyssa Vilkoski had five strikeouts in the game.

CUW returns to play on Sunday at Benedictine.
