Bio
Samantha Schoessow completed her eighth season as the Concordia University Wisconsin field hockey head coach in 2023. Schoessow, who built the Falcons program beginning in 2016, has the future looking bright for CUW Field Hockey.
The 2024 season saw the Falcons compete in the newly created Collegiate Field Hockey Conference (CFHC). Paige Armijo was the first Falcon in program history to be named to the All-CFHC Second Team. Armijo was also selected to the CFHC All-Tournament Team while Katie Quirke was voted to the CFHC All-Sportsmanship Team. The season also saw Parks Cawthray receive Defensive Player of the Week honors.
In 2023, three Falcons landed All-SAA honors, as Leah Mouganis made the First Team, while Sophia Vandeloecht and Halli Schneiderwendt landed Second Team recognition. Mouganis also became the fourth Falcon in program history to be named the SAA Newcomer of the Year. The SAA honors continued to roll in later that year with Abby McGue claiming a spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team while Sarita Arsham and Halli Schneiderwendt made the 2023 SAA Field Hockey All-Tournament Team. Academically, the 2023 team soared as the Blue and White had a record of 12 members make the SAA Academic Honor Roll, breaking the record of 10 which was set just a year prior.
The 2022 season saw six victories including two conference victories. Four Falcons were named to the All-SAA team and one to the SAA All-Sportsmanship Team. The Blue and White excelled in the classroom with 10 SAA Honor Roll selections and eighth NFHCA National Academic selections.
She also helped lead CUW into new settings in 2021 when the Falcons and coach Schoessow hosted the SAA Tournament and showcased Wisconsin field hockey.
The Falcons were one of only a very few teams that were able to compete in the 2020 season.
In 2019, the CUW field hockey team secured a first-round bye in the SAA Tournament and finished the year with a 6-11 record. The Falcons landed a program-record five All-SAA selections in 2019. Megan McPike and Sam Dunn earned NFHCA All-Region selections. The team also traveled to Costa Rica after the season.
The 2018 Falcons soared to new heights in 2018. The Falcons secured a program-best 7-8 record and won their first-ever SAA Tournament game. CUW finished with three All-SAA selections in Samm Dunn, Megan McPike, and Callie Neumann. McPike was also named the SAA Newcomer of the Year. Dunn and McPike also earned all-region honors.
The Falcons went 2-4 in SAA play in 2017 and were the fifth seed in the SAA Tournament, falling 3-1 to Sewanee in the opening round of the tournament. The Falcons roster was comprised of one junior, the rest of the players being underclassmen.
In 2017, Schoessow coached several players to postseason awards. Highlighting those was Sam Dunn, who became the program's first-ever All-Region selection, a Second Team All-Great Lakes pick. CUW was also well-represented with All-Conference awards in 2017, as Landis-Schoessow coached three players to SAA recognition, including 2017 SAA Newcomer of the Year, Callie Neumann. Sam Dunn joined Neumann on the First Team, while Kelsey Fulton, the program's leading scorer after two seasons, was named to the Second Team.
The Falcons won six games in year one under Landis-Schoessow. Included in those six wins was a victory in the only home game of the season, a 6-0 decision over Lindenwood Belleville. The Falcons home contest featured the second-largest crowd in NCAA Division III history. Landis-Schoessow followed that up with a 5-9 record in year two, which included a transition into the Southern Athletic Association, the Falcons first season in a conference.
Schoessow also served as interim head coach of the CUW women's lacrosse team in the spring of 2017, leading CUW to a share of the MWLC Regular Season championship.
Schoessow is no stranger to field hockey as she was a two-time All-Commonwealth Conference selection and a Second-Team All-Region selection her senior year. She also served as an assistant coach at her high school, Warrior Run Area.
She is the mother of Colton.
