Bio

Michael Fahey, a Buffalo, New York native completed his ninth season as Concordia Wisconsin's Men's Lacrosse head coach in 2022. During his guidance, the program has won double-digit games in seven seasons, including a program-record 15 during the 2019 campaign, which featured the program's first outright Midwest Lacrosse Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships. The 2019 squad also advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in program history. He was promoted to head coach by Director of Athletics Dr. Rob Barnhill on May 5, 2014, after serving as the program's interim head coach in 2014.

The Falcons returned back home to postseason play in 2022 when they returned to the NACC Tournament when they finished tied for second place at 6-2 and went 10-7 overall on the year. 

A staple of the Fahey-led Men's Lacrosse program has been defense, as the program has set numerous program records and ranks highly each year in statistical categories at the national level. The 2020 season was successful before it was shortened because of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, which saw the team hold opponents to 8.15 goals per game, including four of six games when the opposition scored six or fewer goals. The Falcons outscored foes 63-48 and piled on double-digit goals in each of their four wins.

The 2019 season ranked second nationally in scoring defense (6.05) and 14th in man-down defense (.817). The Falcons have not been ranked lower than 28th nationally in scoring defense during Fahey's tenure and have three times ranked top-10 nationally in man-down defense, including ranking second in 2015. During the 2015 season, the Falcons led all of NCAA Division III in man-up offense, scoring on 55.4 percent (31-of-56) of their opportunities.

His efforts have also helped goalkeeper Garrett Wohlford earn Midwest Lacrosse Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors all four years. making him the only player to accomplish the feat. Wohlford led the nation during the 2019 season in save percentage (.671) and ranked second in goals-against average (6.37). The Rochester, Minnesota native owns early every goalkeeping record in program history.

Fahey was named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Coach of the Year in 2016 and 2019. He has guided the team to six consecutive MLC Tournament appearances (five times in the championship game) and an MLC Tournament title in 2019 to earn the program's first bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. He has also coached 59 All-MLC players since taking over the program, which includes 23 All-MLC First Team performers. Garrett Wohlford was a four-time MLC Defensive Player of the Year (2019, 2018, 2017, 2016) and MLC Rookie of the Year (2016), while Stephen Gregory was Co-Offensive Player of the Year (2019) and Ryan Voskuil was Rookie of the Year (2017). 

Fahey came to CUW after a distinguished playing career. He spent two years at Onondaga Community College where he was a member of the 2007 NJCAA Lacrosse National Championship team. Following that he played at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C.

He graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in physical education from Lees-McRae College. Fahey was named academic all-conference multiple semesters and during his senior season Lees-McRae College he helped the program to a No. 2 ranking in the NCAA in saves per game.
