Falcons Ruin the Raiders’ Night

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The CUW women's volleyball team remained unbeaten in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) on Tuesday night with a 3-0 victory. The Falcons soar to 11-6 on the year and to 5-0 in conference play with the 25-18, 27-25, 25-6 victory.

The Falcons never trailed in the first set on Tuesday evening. The birds pushed the lead to a 19-7 lead with a service ace from freshman Abby Proefrock (Grafton, Wis.). An attacking error gave CUW the set at 25-18. Senior Jenna Chaussee (Chilton, Wis.) posted three service aces in the set.

The Raiders put up a fight in the second set. The Falcons held the lead for a majority of the set. The biggest lead of the set came at 25-20 after junior Maycee Karpfinger (Wauwatosa, Wis.) landed a service ace. The Raiders did not fold and rallied to take a 25-24 lead. A kill from Gabriella Kaebisch (Paddock Lake, Wis.) kept the Falcons alive and the Blue and White won the next two points to take the set.

The Red and White ran out of gas after the second set and the Falcons cruised to a 25-6 victory in the third set. The serve of senior Emily Natzke (Morton Grove, Ill.) gave the Raiders issues and ballooned the lead to 17-4. CUW closed the set on a 7-0 run behind the serve of Abby Proefrock, who boasted three service aces in the run.

The six points are the fewest allowed in a set by the Falcons on the season. The previous low was seven against Greenville.

The duo of senior Sophia Collins (Lake Mills, Wis.) and Gabriella Kaebisch led the match with nine kills.

Senior Sierra Lee (Kenosha, Wis.) fed the Concordia attack with 16 assists.

The Falcons landed 14 service aces in the victory. Jenna Chaussee and Abby Proefrock both finished with four. Chaussee also led CUW with 15 digs, one more than Sophia Collins at 14.

Maycee Karpfinger had a match-high three blocks in the victory.

The Falcons have a very important business trip down to Illinois this weekend with matches at Dominican and Aurora. The Falcons and Spartans are the only two undefeated NACC teams.
