Klumpp's hat trick helps Women's Soccer to 5-0 win over North Park

CHICAGO – Junior Brittany Klumpp recorded her second career hat trick and Carley Pfannerstill added two goals as the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Soccer team routed North Park, 5-0, Wednesday night at the Holmgren Athletic Complex.

Klumpp's hat trick was her first since her freshmen season when she scored four goals in a 6-1 win over Dominican University. Her first goal was her 30th career in a Falcons uniform as she now has 32 after the 5-0 win.

While the CUW offense was locked in Wednedsay, freshmen goalkeeper Tabitha Ortiz (Plainfield, Ill.) had a strong game as well in earning her first career victory. Ortiz stopped all five shots she faced while gaining the shutout.

It was Pfannerstill who got the Falcons on the board just 3:50 into the match, giving her team an early edge. CUW would build a 2-0 lead midway through the half as Klumpp gained her goal of the evening at the 25:46 mark.

The Falcons had a 2-0 edge at halftime despite the shots being even at 5-5. In the second half CUW would control possession, outshooting North Park by a 13-5 count and scoring three more times for the five-goal victory.

The three CUW goals in the second half were scored in a 5:04 span. Pfannerstill got the second-half scoring started with a goal at the 71:16 mark. Klumpp then put the exclamation point on the victory with two goals, the first coming just 50 seconds after the Pfannerstill score. Klumpp would get the hat trick at the 76:20 mark.

Klumpp finished with a match-best six shots, while senior Anna Hirssig (Rochester, Minn.) added four. Pfannerstill only had the two shots in the contest, both resulting in goals scored. Viviana Preciado took three shots to pace the Vikings offensive attack. Rebecca Harrison was the keeper for the Vikings making four saves in defeat.

CUW (2-2-0) will return to the pitch Saturday in a non-conference match against UW-Stout. The contest between the Falcons and Blue Devils is set for 3:00 p.m. with live stats and audio being provided courtesy of CUWFalcons.com.
