Otterbein takes control in second half against Women's Lacrosse

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein University ended the non-conference contest on a 6-2 scoring run to earn a 12-8 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin in the regular season finale for both schools at Clements Field.

Each team posted 4-0 scoring runs to highlight the opening half, as the game was tied with 16 minutes to play before halftime. From then the Cardinals offense stole the show by tallying eight of the final 11 goals to take control of the scoreboard.

OU outshot CUW by a 32-17 margin, won 15-of-22 draw controls and scored a man-up goal in each half. The Cardinals converted 3-of-7 free-position attempts, while the Falcons were 2-of-4 from the 8-meter circle.

Senior Sam Meuwissen (Chanhassen, Minn.) led CUW with four points (three goals, assist), while sophomore Hannah Redden (Libertyville, Ill.) added two goals and an assist. Sophomore Hayley Peppers (Franktown, Colo.) led all players with six ground balls.

Alyssa Johnson paced OU with three goals and two assists. Victoria Blatt and Morgan Hunsaker each tallied a pair of goals, while three players had at least three draw control wins.

CUW's seven wins sets a new single season mark, as it prepares for the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Tournament for the first time in program history. The Falcons earned the No. 4 seed and will travel to No. 1-seeded Augustana College on Friday, May 3 for a 7 p.m. matchup.

OU, in its second NCAA Division III season, posted an 8-7 overall record for its first winning season after ending the 2012 campaign with a 5-11 record.
