Emily Hafemann Earns Academic All-American Honors

MEQUON, Wis. – Emily Hafemann collected another honor on Wednesday morning. Hafemann was named to the 2020-21 CoSIDA Women's Basketball Academic All-American Women's Second Team, announced by College Sports Information Directors of America on Wednesday morning. This is the first time that Hafemann has claimed All-American honors.

"Being an Academic All-American means so much to me," said Emily Hafemann. "I really think it is a testament to playing a collegiate sport at the Division III level. I am so thankful for all of my professors at Concordia in the School of Nursing and also for coach Brunner for always being so accommodating to the schedule of a nursing student! I had an incredible support system behind me always pushing me to do my best on the court and in the classroom and I could not have done it without them."

A senior from Hales Corners, Wisconsin, Hafemann is earning the honor for the first time in her career. She started in all 15 games this season and averaged 13.9 points per game on 38.9 percent shooting. The guard also shot 37.5 percent (21-of-56) from outside the three-point line, to go along with 3.3 rebounds per game and 3.1 assists per game and a 1.41 assist-to-turnover ratio. Hafemann scored in double-figures 10 times this season and three times surpassed the 20-point plateau. Hafemann scored a career-high 27 points on 7-of-18 shooting on Feb. 27 in a home win over MSOE.

Hafemann is a two-time All-NACC First Team selection.

The Wisconsin native also shined in the classroom and has a 4.00 grade-point average, with a degree in nursing.

The 15-member women's squad has a 3.91 average grade-point average.

Hafemann and Pacific Lutheran's Emma Janousek recorded 4.0 GPAs.

Concordia Wisconsin is one of two schools in NCAA Division III to have a representative on the men's and women's teams. Jordan Johnson was a third-team selection. Illinois Wesleyan was the other school to achieve the accomplishment.

The 2020-21 Academic All-American® Women's Basketball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
