No. 15 Softball Smacks St. Norbert 

DE PERE, Wis. – The 15th-ranked Falcons extended their winning streak to 15 games on Sunday with a 7-4, 10-0 sweep at St. Norbert on Sunday. The Falcons are now 24-3 on the season and 13-0 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.  

The bat of junior Madi Wheat (Coweta, Okla.) started the scoring that scored senior Sydney Erdman (Geneva, Ill.).  

Senior Claudia Utz (Lockport, Ill.) then singled to center field to score Madi Wheat and sophomore Jess Pozezinski (Lake Villa, Ill.).  

Senior Gabbi Gaziano (Beloit, Wis.) flew the ball out of the park with a home run to right field that scored Claudia Utz.  

The Green Knights responded with an unearned run of their own in the bottom of the first inning. 

In the third inning, junior Emily Walters (Waupun, Wis.) whacked the ball to first base to score freshman Julia Moker (Hubertus, Wis.).  

The Concordia scoring in game one closed with sophomore Adrianna Martinez (Chicago, Ill.) sending the ball to shortstop and after some creative chaos, senior Ashley Zappa reached home plate.  

Senior Nicki Becker (Broadhead, Wis.) sat down five batters in her ninth victory of the year. Senior Gina Followell (Romeoville, Ill.) struck out two batters in the seventh inning in her second save of the season.  

The Falcons were thieves on Sunday and stole five bases, with Madi Wheat stealing two.  

Gina Followell grounded the Green Knights with 11 strikeouts in five innings in game two and only allowed one hit.  

Ashley Zappa started the scoring in game two in the second inning with a single to right field that scored Gabbi Gaziano.  

The Blue and White broke open the game in the third inning with five runs.  

Sydney Erdmann doubled down the left-field line to also Emily Walters to score. 

Jess Pozezinski cleared the bases with a double into the gap in right-center field to send home Madi Wheat and Sydney Erdmann.  

Claudia Utz then gave the ball a home in the gap in right-center field that plated Pozezinski.  

Ashley Zappa ripped the ball down the middle of the infield on a single that allowed Claudia Utz to cruise home.  

In the fourth inning, Madi Wheat sent a rocket to second base to allow freshman Rylie DuVal (Elgin, Ill.) to score.  

A single that snuck through the left side of the infield from Jess Pozezinski plated Sydney Erdmann and Emily Walters.  

The scoring ended with sophomore Megan Bloyer (Oregon, Wis.) sending the ball to shortstop to send in Madi Wheat.  

The Falcons will play again on Wednesday at Marian.
