Men's Cross Country runs at UW-Oshkosh meet

WINNECONNE, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Cross Country team took part in the UW-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Invitational Saturday. The event featured several of the top teams in the Midwest and the Falcons finished 32nd as a team.

THE BASICS
- Meet: UW-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Invitational – Lake Breeze Golf Club – Winneconne, Wisconsin
- Falcons Finish: 32nd of 37 (949 points)
- Falcons Top Five: Zach Ziemann – 27:42.6; Craig Reese – 28:01.9; Michael Taylor – 28:06; Brennan Linse – 28:50.9; Emanuel Huerta-Gutierrez – 29:10.7

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ziemann (Jackson, Wis.) was the top Falcons finisher for the first time this season. He completed the 8K course in a time of 27:42.6, his best effort of the season.

- Reese (Germantown, Wis.) ran a personal-best time on Saturday, clocking in at 28:01.9. That's now two straight weeks the freshman has posted a season-best effort, as he ran a 28:39.8 last week at Benedictine.

- Taylor (Denmark, Wis.) was next in line, finishing just a few spots behind Reese with his race of 28:06. Linse (Jefferson, Wis.) was running for the first time this season and turned in a solid effort, coming across the finish line in 28:50.9.

- Huerta-Gutierrez (Walworth, Wis.) ran a PR time for the second consecutive week. He bested his previous best effort by 10 seconds, finishing the course in 29:10.7.

- Brandon Goesch (32:00.3)
- Matthew Wilcox (33:25.7)

THE MEET
- North Central was dominant in capturing the team title at the 37-team event. They finished with just 24 points, placing five runners in the top 10 and seven inside the top 20.

- Zach Plank of North Central won the race, finishing the course in 24:46.2. The race involved 551 runners who finished the 8K course.

- It was good for the Falcons, who ran with a season-best nine runners on Saturday, to run at Lake Breeze Golf Course. CUW will be there in about a month's time to take part in the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons will have a week off before taking part in the NACC Championships in two weeks. The meet is set for an 11 a.m. start and will be hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College at Greenfield Park.
