Men's Cross Country posts six PRs at UW-Oshkosh meet

WINNECONNE, Wis. – Competing in one of the largest Division III cross country meets in the country, the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Cross Country team had some strong performances Saturday at the UW-Oshkosh AAE Invitational. There were 46 teams and 419 runners in the race, held at Lake Breeze Golf Club.

THE BASICS

Falcons Score: 1,107 points (Bernau – 196, Neuwirth – 201, Taylor – 211, Fell – 226, Ziemann – 273).
Location: Lake Breeze Golf Club – Winneconne, Wis. (hosted by UW-Oshkosh)
Team Champion: UW-Eau Claire (99 points)

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Senior Stephen Bernau (Courtland, Minn.) paced the Falcons with the best race of his career, running a PR time of 26:42 in the 8K.

- Next in line for the Falcons was sophomore Tyler Neuwirth (Mukwonago, Wis.) as he also posted a PR on Saturday. Neuwirth crossed the finish line with a time of 26:44.

- Junior Michael Taylor (Denmark, Wis.) added a PR of his own on Saturday as he navigated through the course with a time of 26:52. He was the third Falcon to cross the finish line.

- Senior Adam Fell (Mundelein, Ill.) also posted a personal-best time as he finished the race in 27:04, marking the second straight week the senior has ran a PR.

- Junior Zach Ziemann (Jackson, Wis.) was the final runner to count towards the team score for the Falcons Saturday. He tied a season-best mark with a time of 27:57. His teammate, sophomore Tanner Rutkowski (Wauwatosa, Wis.) also clocked in at 27:57, finishing just behind Ziemann.

- Senior Alex Rosenau (Van Dyne, Wis.) – 28:33
- Sophomore Brandon Goesch (Germantown, Wis.) – 28:57.1 (PR)
- Sophomore Emanuel Huerta-Gutierrez (Walworth, Wis.) – 32:07 (PR)

UP NEXT

- The Falcons will have a week off before hosting the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships October 31. The men's race will follow the women's race that day, with the men being scheduled to run at noon.
