Dubuque, Iowa. – The Falcons traveled to Dubuque to take on the Spartans in some men's lacrosse action.
The Spartans dominated the opening frames of the matchup with three unanswered goals in the first 18 minutes of the game.
The Falcons answered with a goal from senior Keijo Day (Esko, Minn.) with nine minutes left to play in the second. He was assisted by freshman Max Esposito (Gaithersburg, Md.).
The teams went into halftime with a score of 3-1 in favor of the Spartans.
The Spartans opened the third quarter with another three unanswered goals spanning the first seven minutes of the quarter.
Senior Chris Smith (South Elgin, Ill.) pulled the Falcons back within four with a goal at 5:39 in the third period. He was assisted by freshman Gio Nowotarski (Reading, Pa.).
Dubuque closed the quarter with a goal at 4:17 to take a 7-2 lead.
The Falcons opened the fourth quarter with three unanswered goals. Day netted the first two goals with both assists coming from sophomore Caleb Ruger (Grafton, Wis.). The third goal was scored by Esposito with an assist from freshman Chase Drexler (Vernon Hills, Ill.).
Dubuque pulled away with two more goals to end the game with a final score of 9-5.
Junior Adam Nichols (Meridian, Idaho) recorded 11 saves on the outing.
The Falcons turn their attention toward a pair of away matchups with Brevard and Piedmont.
