MLC announces postseason honors

WAUKESHA, Wis. -- After an undefeated conference season, Concordia Wisconsin received high praise from the league's coaches during the Midwest Lacrosse Conference postseason awards. Stephen Gregory was named Co-Offensive Player of the Year, Garrett Wohlford earned Defensive Player of the Year accolades and Michael Fahey was tagged with Coach of the Year honors.

Gregory was named Co-Offensive Player of the Year after recording 32 points, 22 goals, 10 assists and picking up 14 ground balls during league play. The senior had multiple goals in 10 games throughout the season, including 13 goals during a five-game stretch early in the season and 12 goals during a five-game span late in the year. The Louisville, Kentucky native became just the sixth player in program history to reach the 100-goal plateau on April 13.

Wohlford earned Defensive Player of the Year honors for the fourth consecutive year and is currently ranked first nationally in save percentage (68.1) and second in goals-against average (5.91). The senior boasts a 14-3 record and 171 saves, while making double-digit saves in nine contests this year. He tied the program's game record for saves in the season-opener with 21 and the Rochester, Minnesota native owns every goalkeeping record in program history.

Fahey, in his sixth season at the helm of the Falcon men's lacrosse program, guided the team to an undefeated, 11-0, and outright MLC regular season title. It is the second MLC regular season title in program history after sharing it in 2017. This season Concordia Wisconsin outscored league foes by a 167-49 margin and won seven games by a double-figure margin. The Buffalo, New York native has compiled a 76-31 overall record (.710) and a 44-6 (.880) mark in league play.

Overall, the Falcons had 11 players earn All-MLC honors. Gregory was named All-MLC First Team as a midfielder for the second-straight year and Wohlford was named All-MLC First Team as a goalkeeper for the fourth year in a row.

Junior Ryan Voskuil was tagged with All-MLC First Team honors as a defender after All-MLC Honorable Mention last year and MLC Freshman of the Year accolades during his rookie year. The Flower Mound, Texas native has 21 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers to his credit in 14 games. He had a stretch where he caused 13 turnovers in four games in the middle of the season.

Senior Mario Baregi earned All-MLC First Team recognition as a short-stick defender for the second year in a row. He had 17 ground balls and caused 10 turnovers, while also scoring twice and assisting on two goals. The Champlin, Minnesota native had multiple ground balls in five games.

Sophomore Keijo Day added All-MLC Second Team accolades as an attackman to his résumé after scoring 51 points (36 goals, 15 assists), picking up 24 ground balls and causing eight turnovers. The Esko, Minnesota native had 11 multi-goal games and six hat tricks. Over the last six games, he has scored 16 goals, which includes three hat tricks or better.

Senior Sebastian Leck was named All-MLC Second Team as a defender after picking up 23 ground balls and causing 16 turnovers. The O'Fallon, Illinois native tallied multiple ground balls in five games and caused two turnovers in five different contests.

Junior Nathan Oekerman earned All-MLC Second Team honors as a long-stick midfielder after recording 46 ground balls, 24 caused turnovers, one goal and one assist. The Beaverton, Oregon native had a career-high eight ground balls and a career-high-tying four caused turnovers during a home win on March 9. He tallied three or more ground balls in six games and three or more caused turnovers in five contests.

Senior Aidan Connolly added All-MLC Honorable Mention honors as a midfielder to his list of accomplishments after scoring 44 points (29 goals, 15 assists), picking up 18 ground balls and causing six turnovers. The Grayslake, Illinois tallied hat tricks in six games and has scored 18 goals over the past five contests. He also had four games with multiple assists.

Junior Ben Gramarossa earned All-MLC Honorable Mention honors as a faceoff specialist (midfielder) after winning 123-of-208 faceoffs (59.1 percent), to go along with 63 ground balls. The Smithtown, New York native had double-digit faceoff wins in four games, including a 15-for-20, 10-for-12 and 11-for-13 performances in the faceoff circle.

Junior Jordan Alexander was named All-MLC Honorable Mention as a short-stick defender after picking up 38 ground balls and causing 12 turnovers. The Littleton, Colorado native recorded three or more ground balls in seven games and had 23 during a six-game span in the first half of the season.

Senior Bennett Pallex was named to the All-MLC Sportsmanship Team. The Pulaski, Wisconsin native had 20 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers in 17 games played this season. He had multiple ground balls in nine games.
