Falcons fall on the road to begin 2019 season

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – John Carroll pulled away in the fourth quarter with five goals to earn a 12-6 victory over Concordia Wisconsin in the season opener for both schools at Schula Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Wisconsin scored back-to-back goals, including a man-up goal, in the third quarter to embark on a comeback but could only get to within two goals, 6-4, with just over a minute to play before the end of the third quarter.
- John Carroll scored five goals in the final 15 minutes of play to pull away from the Falcons for the six-goal victory.
- Sophomore Keijo Day (Esko, Minn.) and senior Aidan Connolly (Grayslake, Ill.) each had man-up goals for the visitors, with Connolly recording a hat trick. Senior Jack Donnellan (Grayslake, Ill.) had a goal and an assist, while senior Stephen Gregory (Louisville, Ky.) had a marker.
- Senior Garrett Wohlford (Rochester, Minn.) made 21 saves in the game to begin the final year of his career. Six different Falcons had a caused turnovers, while junior Ben Gramarossa (Smithtown, N.Y.) won seven faceoffs and picked up five ground balls.
- Brendan Whitty had four goals to lead all players, while Cam Gerard had a hat trick. Bennett Gorman and Skyler Blake each had two assists. Jacob Betz made 11 saves in goal.

GAME NOTES
- The Falcons ended 2-of-5 on man-up chances, while John Carroll was limited to 1-of-6.
- Concordia Wisconsin began its year on the road for the seventh time in nine seasons.
