Men's Hockey Drops to No. 3 Bulldogs

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Concordia men's hockey team fell to the No. 3 Adrian Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon, putting two goals into the Bulldogs' net just a day after being consistently denied by the same defense. The loss moved the Falcons to 3-6 in the 2023-24 season.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring seven minutes into the game, as Zachary Heintz put Adrian ahead 1-0. They would find their way on the scoreboard just once more in the period, as Heintz struck again for the reigning NCAA DIII runners-up.

The second frame saw a lone goal for Adrian before a three-goal effort in the third. Mathew Redhing, Ryan Pitoscia, and Ian Amsbaugh picked up goals for the Bulldogs in the final period of play.

However, the Falcons would dominate the scoresheet as the game came to a close, spoiling the shutout effort by the Bulldogs halfway through the third. Freshman Riley Klugerman (Aurora, Ont.) picked up the shorthanded goal after challenging the Bulldogs' puck-carrier, only to send the puck through the legs of the Adrian goaltender and into the net.

Just five minutes later, freshman Alex Ochtiwa (Prince George, B.C.) collected another goal for Concordia off of assists from sophomore Collin Kerchoff (White Lake, Mich.) and freshman Logan Kroyman (Deerfield Beach, Fla.).

Sophomores Grant Newcomer (McFarland, Wis.) and Jason Tenezaca (Niles, Ill.) led the Falcons on the evening with three shots in an evenly-distributed statistic that saw fourteen Concordia skaters put shots on goal.

Sophomore Ben Pizzimenti (Iowa City, Iowa) led the Falcons from the faceoff dot, winning 50% of his draws in the afternoon.

Sophomore Gabe Rosek (East Lansing, Mich.) registered 31 saves on the evening for the Falcons to mark his fifth performance of the season with 30 or more saves.

Concordia will be back in action on Friday, December 8 to take on the 5-4-1 Gustavus Adolphus Gusties.
