Esports weekly recap (February 26 - March 3)

MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia Wisconsin had its most successful week (February 26 to March 3) to date in Esports, winning a Madden NFL 20 Tournament.

DeShawn Battle (Battle) took first place with an unblemished 9-0 record in the World Gaming Madden NFL 20 PS4 Tournament. He played as the Philadelphia Eagles and half of his opponents quit in the third quarter. Battle is also a Falcon student-athlete on the football team. In addition, Trevaugn Collins (Trejae) took fourth place in the same tournament with a 5-2 record and played as the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ben Van Boxtel (Kryptic_TG) and Grant Steinke (SpeedyGaming) teamed up to tie for sixth place in another Call of Duty event, which was a best two of three rounds (double elimination). They compiled a 4-2 record.

Austin Lichtenstein (Augi) and Colby Williams (GingiThe4Head) had another successful week, placing 15th of 49 teams in the weekly Fortnite game. They scored 10 points and placed 16th, 14th and sixth in the three rounds.

The team of Nathan Anderson (Yeahbuddy121#112), Charles Kingma (Thrun#11698) and Jack Kral (Jkral626#1511) competed for the first time in the Hearthstone Collegiate Championship, a weekly league, and lost 3-1 to DePaul in the best of five series. They had one win with Galakrond Rogue deck, but couldn't find a win with Priest and Druid decks.

CJ Ridout (TheJamalKing) played in Brawlhalla for the first time and compiled a 6-2 record.

The Falcons Rocket League teams also competed in the weekly league, dropping a total of four games by 3-0 scores against Central Missouri, Arkansas State, MSOE Red and Culver-Stockton.
