Morgan, Moriarty honored by Northwoods League

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin Baseball head coach Eddy Morgan and assistant coach Mark Moriarty were both honored by the Northwoods League as the league recently announced its postseason awards.

Morgan, who recently finished his first year with CUW in 2014, was named the Northwoods League Manager of the Year. He is in his second year as manager of the Chinooks and guided the team to a league-best 50-21 record this season.

Moriarty, who serves as an assistant to Morgan during the spring at CUW as well as with the Chinooks, was named the Northwoods League Coach of the Year. Moriarty works primarily with the pitching staff and helped a unit that ranked first in the league in ERA at 2.92.

Together Morgan, Moriarty and the rest of their staff have helped lead the Chinooks to a 50-win season, just the third in the history of the league. On Tuesday (August 12) the Chinooks completed a 2-0 series sweep of Wisconsin to capture the South Division Championship. They advanced to the Summer Collegiate World Series where they will take on either Willmar or Mankato in a best of three series.

The Chinooks will begin the Summer Collegiate World Series on Thursday at either Willmar or Mankato. They will host game two on Friday at Kapco Park, located on the campus of Concordia University Wisconsin, at 6:35 p.m. An if necessary third game would also be played at Kapco Park on Saturday.
