Acrobatics & Tumbling Celebrated Senior Day Against No. 10 Augustana

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin acrobatics and tumbling team fell to the No. 10 Augustana Vikings in the teams' second meeting of the 2024 season, taking the loss by a 263.505-224.080 margin. The contest marked the conclusion of the Falcons' regular season, which saw the team finish with a 2-5 overall record.

The Falcons started the day with 32.50 points in the compulsory event. The pyramid heat stood as the Falcons' best score in the event with 9.45 points while the toss heat left the team with an additional 9.3 on the scoreboard. CUW tied the season-high score of 8.45 in the acro heat.

Concordia posted 23.20 points in the acro event, including 8.30 in the six-element heat.

The Falcons strung together a 27.8-point performance in the pyramid event, dropping just 1.9 points across the three heats. The open pyramid, which featured seniors Paityn Taormina (Geneva, Ill.), Haleigh Komprood (Janesville, Wis.) and Eliana Schmit (Germantown, Wis.), junior Madisen Arendt (Waukesha, Wis.), and sophomore Ainslee Taylor (Alto, Mich.), represented the Falcons' best score of the day with 9.6 points.

The Falcons added another 24.85 points in the toss heat.

The Falcons posted a season-high 7.60 points in the trio pass, which was anchored by Schmidt, Taylor, and junior Alexis Pfeifle (Macomb, Mich.). The remainder of the tumbling event saw Concordia finish with 44.600 points.

The Vikings finished with a score of 88.73 in the team event to the Falcons' 71.13, granting Augustana the 263.505-224.08 victory.

The program honored Amanda Owens, Paityn Taormina, Haleigh Komprood and Eliana Schmit on Saturday for their four years with the program.

Concordia will look ahead to the NCATA Division III Tournament, which begins on April 11.
