MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin softball team shined under the warm Sunday sun against the Raiders of MSOE. The Falcons brought out the brooms with a 9-1, 10-2 sweep over the Raiders. The Blue and White improve to 13-9 on the season and 7-3 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

Senior Claudia Utz (Lockport, Ill.) opened the scoring on Sunday to center field in the first inning that plated senior Sydney Erdmann. Junior Megan Bloyer (Oregon, Wis.) then scored senior Madi Wheat (Coweta, Okla.) on a sacrifice fly to left field.

The Raiders threatened to take the lead in the third inning with the bases loaded. Adrianna Martinez and the defense then shut down the Red and White. After a fly out to Madi Wheat, the Oklahoma native tossed a perfectly placed ball in to keep the Raiders glued to the bases. The threat then ended with a groundout to third base.

Senior Gabbi Gaziano (Beloit, Wis.) cleared the bases in the fourth inning with a double to left field that landed junior KianaMarie Taccad (Chicago, Ill.) and freshman Jenna Shadoski (Janesville, Wis.) across home plate.

Sydney Erdmann crushed the ball to left field on a triple that added to the lead after sophomore Maggie Plahmer (Slinger, Wis.) and Gabbi Gaziano scurried across home plate.

Claudia Utz struck again with a home run over the fence in center field that scored Madi Wheat and Sydney Erdmann.

The Raiders scored a run in the fifth inning, but it was not enough to extend the game past the fifth inning.

Junior Adrianna Martinez (Chicago, Ill.) rattled the Raiders in the circle with only three hits against and a strikeout.

The Falcons stranded six Raiders on the basepath in the first five innings.

Sydney Erdmann, junior Jess Pozezinski (Lake Villa, Ill.) and Claudia Utz all had two hits in the game. Utz finished with four RBI.

The Birds blitzed the Raiders in the first inning again in game two.

It again started with Claudia Utz, when she sent a shot to right field that scored Madi Wheat and Sydney Erdmann. A stolen base for Claudia Utz caused chaos that allowed Jess Pozezinski to take home plate. Utz then scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Adrianna Martinez.

Megan Bloyer closed the first-inning scoring on an error.

The Raiders scored both of their runs in the second inning.

Sophomore Jasmine Freeze (Bolingbrook, Ill.) helped take a run back in the bottom half of the inning on a single through the left side of the infield that scored Madi Wheat.

The Falcons added to the lead with back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning from Jess Pozezinski and Claudia Utz.

Sophomore Taylor Jacobson (Kenosha, Wis.) scored Gabbi Gaziano in the fifth inning. Jacobson then scored on a double from Sydney Erdmann and slid into home plate after a juke move helped confuse the MSOE defense to allow her to get across home plate.

Freshman Emma Shellstrom (San Diego, Calif.) had a sensational start in the circle and finished with a strikeout. Jasmine Freeze froze the Raiders with only one hit and two strikeouts.

The Falcons look to build upon their winning streak on Tuesday at Marian.
