Nevinski, Zymanek lead the Falcons over Marian

MEQUON, Wis. – Lauren Nevinski and Terese Zymanek led Concordia University Wisconsin to a sweep of Marian University on Tuesday night inside the R. John Buuck Field House. The victory kept the Falcons tied for first in the NACC standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons and the Sabres were neck and neck the entire first set but the end CUW would prevail and pull out a 25-23 win to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
- In set number two, CUW and Marian were again neck and neck to begin the set, but a 10-5 run to end the match gave the Falcons a 25-19 set win.
- The third set was completely controlled by the Falcons, with CUW never trailing the entire set. A 6-0 run midway through the set helped the Falcons come away with a 25-16 win.
- CUW hit .231 (41K-17E-104A) in the match compared to Marian's .028 (27K-24E-109A).
- Sophomore Lauren Nevinski (New Berlin, Wis.) and Terese Zymanek (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) paced CUW with 11 and 10 kills respectively, while sophomore Kaily Moegenburg (Plymouth, Wis.) added six kills of her own.
- Junior Karina Klotz (Hubertus, Wis.) led all players with 22 assists, while freshman Haley Sedo (Neenah, Wis.) assisted on 12 kills of her own.
- Freshman Lindsey Capser (Hubertus, Wis.) led all players with 18 digs and freshman Makenzie Paszek (Sussex, Wis.) dug nine attack attempts to lead another balanced defensive effort.
- Up front it was Nevinski who had four block assists.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
- The victory was the nineth sweep of the season for the Falcons. They also remained tied for first in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference standings.
- Freshman Lindsey Casper (Hubertus, Wis.) set a career-high for most assists in a single match with five.
- Sophomore Melanie Fischer (West Bend, Wis.) recorded her first career solo block Tuesday night.
- Moegenburg also set a career-high with two solo blocks for the match.
- Zymanek also set a new match career-high with a .304 attack percentage.
- The Falcons 4-1 overall in the month of October.

THE OPPOSITION
- Jessica Roberts led the Sabres with nine kills and Amber Baker assisted on 20 points.
- Katrina Jansen and Morgan Derks led Marian defensively with 13 and 11 digs respectively.

- The Falcons continue NACC play as they take on Benedictine at home on Friday at 7 pm.
