Wrestling Remains Unbeaten with a Win at Wheaton

WHEATON, Ill. – The CUW men's wrestling team remained unbeaten on the 2022-23 campaign with a win over Wheaton on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons silenced the Thunder to move to 5-0 and to 4-0 in the Collegiate Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.

The Thunder rumbled out to an early lead with decisions at 125 and 133 pounds.

Senior Gabe Rodriguez (Las Vegas, Nev.) put the Falcons on the scoreboard at 141 pounds with a 14-2 major decision over Brendan Johnson.

Wheaton struck back with a fall at the 149-pound weight class.

At 157 pounds, senior Jack O'Donnell (Huntington Beach, Calif.) collected a 14-6 major decision over Cade Zeamer.

Sophomore Bryce Claypool (Morris, Ill.) collected a forfeit victory in the 165-pound weight class.

Junior Jonathan Pullen (Joliet, Ill.) picked up a 19-7 major decision over Jacob Kraker.

At 184 pounds, freshman Ruben Vasquez (Westminster, Calif.) had a 13-2 major decision over Matt Durbin.

The Thunder zapped the Falcons with a major decision at 197 pounds to put some pressure on the heavyweight bout.

Senior Dalton Sell (Muscatine, Iowa) secured the victory with a 13-8 decision over Luke Feddler.

The Falcons look to keep the momentum rolling on Wednesday at MSOE.
