Falcons Fight in Rough Conditions

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's lacrosse team battled through the wind, rain and snow on Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons fell to 4-5 on the year with the 15-6 loss.

The Falcons struck first on Tuesday when sophomore Katelyn Cardinale (Mount Laurel, N.J.) scored on a spin move off a pass from freshman Carolyn Bourgeault (Kenmore, N.Y.).

Senior Eliana Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.) scored the lone goal of the second quarter after she stole the ball and charged down the field to score.

Katelyn Cardinale struck again in the third quarter after she ran down the field and split a pair of defenders before she found the back of the net.

Cardinale scored in the first minute of the fourth quarter on a free position shot.

Senior Savannah Schweiger (Eagle, Wis.) scored with 1:54 left in the game off a pass from Katelyn Cardinale.

CUW scored the final goal of the game 54 seconds later after Eliana Fuchs danced around the defense to end the scoring.

The Pioneers held a 34-16 advantage in shots on Tuesday.

Eliana Fuchs led the flock with five shots.

The Falcons dominated the draw control circle on Tuesday winning 18 of the 23 draw controls. Senior Anna Gong (Phoenix, Ariz.) and junior Brenna Bieniek (Shakopee, Minn.) both won five draw controls.

Eliana Fuchs stuffed the stat sheet with six ground balls, four draw controls and four caused turnovers.

Freshman Parks Cawthray (Oakville, Ontario) collected seven saves, tying the second-highest mark of the season.  

The Falcons open the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) portion of the schedule on Saturday at Aurora.
