Men's Lacrosse has nine players named All-MLC

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin had nine players earn All-Midwest Lacrosse Conference accolades, as voted on by the league's head coaches which the league office announced Monday.

Derek Brueske, Christopher Grenz, Mark Wilson and Danny Bundra led the Falcons with All-MLC First Team honors. Colin Raley, Matt Garvey, Mitch Trapp and Thomas Mueller earned All-MLC Second Team accolades. Matt Ray was named All-MLC Honorable Mention and was CUW's MLC All-Sportsmanship Team honoree. CUW's nine players on the All-MLC teams ties the record for the most postseason honors in program history, which was accomplished last season.

Brueske (senior, Hopkins, Minn.) finished his storied career as the top scorer for the Falcons this season with 61 points (42 goals, 19 assists). His 61 points is the second most in a season in program history, while his 42 goals is a season record. Brueske scored 11 man-up goals this season, which ranked 11th nationally, first in the MLC and ties the program's season record. He also set five game records this season, including a nine-goal performance (game record five man-up goals) during a home victory over Fontbonne on April 11. Brueske ends his career as the program's all-time leader in points (198), assists (82), shots (424) and shots on goal (212).

Grenz (senior, Centennial, Colo.) had 16 caused turnovers and 20 ground balls this season. His efforts helped the Falcons rank as the second best man-down defense in the country, while allowing just 7.18 goals per game (25th best in the country). Grenz concludes his career as the program's all-time leader in caused turnovers (71).

Wilson (junior, Calgary, Alberta) was twice named MLC Defensive Player of the Week this season, in addition to leading the Falcons with 27 caused turnovers. He also picked up 70 ground balls (second most on the team) and recorded 11 points (eight goals, three assists). Wilson caused 10 turnovers during MLC play, which was fifth best amongst defenders.

Bundra (junior, Lake Zurich, Ill.) was CUW's top faceoff man, winning 187-of-313 attempts (59.7). He ranked 54th nationally in faceoff win percentage and 10th in the MLC. As well, Bundra picked up 5.69 ground balls per game, which was third in the MLC. His 91 total ground balls were the second most in a season in program history, while he won 22 faceoffs (third most in a game) during a home victory over Fontbonne on April 11.

Raley (sophomore, Inverness, Ill.) tallied 43 points (36 goals, seven assists) this season, which was the second most on the team. His 36 goals were the second most in a season in program history and he set the season record with five game-winning goals. Raley also marked nine man-up scores. He scored three or more goals six times this season.

Garvey (junior, Winnipeg, Manitoba) was third on the team with 39 points (14 goals, 25 assists), but led the team with 25 helpers. He had the fifth most assists in the MLC this season and second most in a season in program history. Garvey set the program's game record with 11 points, including nine assists, during a home victory over Fontbonne on April 11. He had multiple assists in five games this season.

Trapp (senior, Hartland, Wis.) recorded nine caused turnovers and 24 ground balls this season on the best defense in the MLC. He picked up multiple ground balls in five games, including a career-high eight in a victory at Piedmont on March 17. His efforts helped the Falcons limit opponents to single digit goals in 11 games.

Mueller (junior, Prior Lake, Minn.) was the best goalie in the MLC, allowing 7.56 goals per game, which also ranked 29th nationally. He saved 53.9 percent of the shots he faced and saved 125 shots. Mueller had double-figure saves in five games, including 15 saves (second most in a game in program history) in a win at Benedictine to help the Falcons advance to the MLC Tournament Championship game. He ranks first all-time in program history for save percentage (58.3) and goals against average (6.72).

Ray (senior, Andover, Minn.) appeared in 16 games, making four starts. He caused three turnovers and picked up 16 ground balls. This was the first season he earned All-MLC postseason accolades and was the team's representative for the MLC Sportsmanship honor.
