Aurora downs Men's Lacrosse

AURORA, Ill. – Aurora University scored early and often on Wednesday evening en route to a convincing 20-8 Midwest Lacrosse Conference victory over Concordia University Wisconsin at Vago Field.

The Spartans recorded seven goals in the first quarter and led 12-4 at halftime. They tallied the game's first six goals and led 18-4 at the conclusion of the third period.

CUW (8-6, 5-4 MLC) finished 1-for-7 on extra-man opportunities and was dominated in every statistical category. The loss snapped a three-game overall winning streak and a three-game MLC winning streakfor the Falcons. The defeat may also have put the Falcons MLC Tournament hopes in jeopardy.

Freshman Derek Brueske (Hopkins, Minn.) led CUW with three goals, all in the first half, while sophomore Sam Wladyka (Winnipeg, Manitoba) tallied a pair of scores and had a team-high six ground balls. Sophomore Justin Krause (Hartland, Wis.) paced the team with two assists.

Aurora's Jack Meachum led all scorers with four goals, while Danny Loyall and Max Obriecht each found the back of the net three times. In all, 10 Spartans (11-3, 7-1 MLC) scored in the win.

CUW returns to action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. non-conference matchup against Alma College at Fitting Field. The contest is the final home game of the season for the Falcons.
