Baseball Wraps up Wednesday with a Win Over WLC

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons took on the Warriors of Wisconsin Lutheran on a windy Wednesday afternoon on the shores of Lake Michigan. The Falcons moved to 10-8 on the year and to 2-2 in the NACC after Wednesday. The Warriors won game one, 13-10. The Falcons responded with a 15-2 victory.

The Falcons struck first on Wednesday with four runs in the first inning.

Senior Sean Tillmon (Plainfield, Ill.) tripled to center field that scored senior Johannes Haakenson (Janesville, Wis.).

Tillmon then scored on a single from junior Jimmy Juergensen (Cedarburg, Wis.) to left field.

Sophomore Kyle Flynn (Nashville, Tenn.) flew the ball out to left field to score Jimmy Juergensen.

Freshman Matt Miller (Fredonia, Wis.) also sent the ball to left field with a single that landed Flynn on home plate.

The Green and White responded with nine runs in the first inning.

The birds took a bite out of the deficit with a pair of runs in the third inning.

Senior Brandon Niedfeldt (Roscoe, Ill.) pushed the ball into the gap in left-center field to score Matt Miller.

A sacrifice fly from Johannes Haakenson was deep enough to get senior Dillan Fike (Oak Lawn, Ill.) across home plate.

The Warriors added to the lead with two runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

The Falcons continued to fight until the very end of game one.

Sean Tillmon started the comeback with a home run to right center that also plated Johannes Haakenson in the eighth inning.

In the ninth inning, Dillan Fike scored on a passed ball and senior Cody Maier (Mandan, N.D.) scored on a sacrifice fly from Johannes Haakenson.

Sean Tillmon and Matt Miller both had three hits in game one. Johannes Haakenson stole a base.

The Green and White took an early lead in game two with a run in the first inning and another in the fourth inning.

It was all Falcons after that.

Daniel Hahn started the comeback in the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly that scored sophomore Josh Aguiniga (Chicago, Ill.).

Jimmy Juergensen then blasted the ball over the fence in right-center field to score Sean Tillmon and senior Cole Aguirre (Chino Hills, Calif.).

In the sixth inning, Josh Aguiniga doubled into the gap in left-center to send in Matt Miller.

Johannes Haakenson scored Aguiniga on a single to right field.

Matt Miller started the scoring in the seventh inning with a single to left field to land Jimmy Juergensen on home plate.

Cole Aguirre lasered the ball down the left-field line to get Matt Miller and Kyle Flynn across home plate.

A sacrifice fly from Kyle Flynn in the eighth inning scored Sean Tillmon.

The Falcons had a revolving door of scoring in the ninth inning. Johannes Haakenson started the carousel with a walk that allowed sophomore Will Sommers (Mount Prospect, Ill.) to trot onto home plate. Josh Aguiniga scurried onto home plate off the bat of Daniel Hahn. A single to right field from Jimmy Juergensen scored Cole Aguirre. Cody Maier was walked to plate Johannes Haakenson and Sean Tillmon beats the Warriors on a wild pitch.

Freshman Tyler Bartczak (Crestwood, Ill.) earned the victory with eight strikeouts and only four hits. Freshman JT Hockers (Middleton, Wis.) had three strikeouts in the save.

Matt Miller recorded the only stolen base in the game.

The Falcons finished with 13 hits in the victory with Jimmy Juergensen and Josh Aguiniga finishing with a game-high three hits.

The Falcons travel to MSOE on Saturday.
