Augustana Upends Acrobatics & Tumbling

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin acrobatics & tumbling team finally competed on Sunday afternoon, after a forfeit victory last weekend against Adrian. The Vikings of Augustana sent the Falcons to 1-1 on the season with a 261-805 to 239.940 victory.

The Falcons opened the day with 32.5 points in the compulsory event. CUW scored 9.6 points in the pyramid heat and 9.7 points in the toss heat.

The Blue and White then scored 20.15 points in the acro event.

The Falcons soared in the pyramid event with 28.35 points. CUW scored nine or more points in all three heats including a score of 9.9 points in the open pyramid with junior Paityn Taormina (Geneva, Ill.), senior Jessi Alexander (Plainfield, Ill.), junior Haleigh Komprood (Janesville, Wis.), junior Eliana Schmit (Germantown, Wis.) and sophomore Ellen Marie Sanders (Joppa, Md.).

The birds were able to cut into the Augustana lead with 27.05 points in the toss event. CUW added 9.55 points to the scoresheet in the 450 salto heat.

The Falcons tallied 45.9 points in the tumbling event, with Paityn Taormina scoring 8.875 points in the open pass. The trio pass of Paityn Taormina, sophomore Alexis Pfeifle (Macomb, Mich.) and freshman Ainslee Taylor (Alto, Mich.) broke the school record at 8.150 points. 

The day closed with a score of 85.99 points in the team event.

The program honored the three seniors of AnnaLyssia Abela (Dearborn, Mich.), Jessi Alexander and Amy Eberth (Basehor, Kan.).

The Falcons are back in action in March for a road trip through Adrian, Trine and Augustana.
