Acrobatics & Tumbling ends season with program's first victory

MEQUON, Wis. – If there is one thing we learned this season, it is that Concordia University Wisconsin won't give up and competes until the very end. Those efforts resulted in a 241.375 to 237.730 victory for the Falcons over Adrian College in the final Acrobatics & Tumbling meet of the season.

"I am very proud of this team and their hard work and dedication," head coach Cristina Ribble said. "They have worked extremely hard this entire season and tonight was a win they absolutely deserved. They had one of their best meets, as far as performance, and out scores reflected that. I am very proud of our first season as a program, and as the only new team in the NCATA. I couldn't be happier to end on this positive note."

CUW struggled at times this season to overcome its opponents, but on Sunday afternoon inside the R. John Buuck Field House, they put it all together for the first win in program history. The Falcons scored a season-high 241.375 points, which included numerous season-best point totals. They also had season-high point totals in the Pyramid and Toss Events.

The Falcons began the meet by scoring 31.75 points out of a possible 40.00, which was nearly three points better than Adrian. They tallied a 7.55 in the acro heat of the opening Compulsory Event, which was a season-high. They then surrendered .23 points to the Bulldogs in the Acro Event, but scored a season-high 27.70 points to continue to lead in the meet.

CUW separated itself a bit more after the Pyramid Event when it scored a season-high 9.85 in heat two (twist) and accumulated another season-high, this time 28.25 points in the three-heat event. Their total was 1.05 points better than the Bulldogs.

The Falcons had more success in the meet, scoring an 8.55 in heat one (2 element) of the Toss Event, to go along with an 8.60 in heat three (open) to amass a season-best 24.95 points. Adrian also performed well, totaling 24.75 points in the event to trail by 3.82 points after four events.

The difficult Tumbling Event was faced by both programs, but the Falcons scored a season-best 6.70 out of a possible 7.40 in the quad pass heat. They also had an 8.275 out of a possible 8.55 in the open pass heat. CUW edged Adrian 44.425 to 44.050 in the event.

Both teams performed well in the Team Event, but it was the Falcons who excited the home crowd with the first victory in program history, and also on Senior Day.
