UW-Stevens Point Open Nov 11 Chuck Radcliff placed 4th in the Gold Division at 118 lbs. to lead the Falcons. Brian Hilton went 2-2 at 167 lbs. in the Silver Division.

 

Concordia Open Nov 18 Redshirt freshman Jim Stewart placed 3rd at 177 lbs., including a 9-5 win over Graham Kuhn of Lawrence and a 9-3 win over Chicago’s Jim Combs. Freshman Tom Roskopf went 3-2 at 142 lbs. but did not place. Mike Pankratz was 2-2 at 118. 15 teams participated.

 

WI Collegiate Open at UW-Parkside Dec. 2 Tom Roskopf (142) and Jim Stewart (177) each went 3-2 on the day, but came up one match short of placing.

 

UW-LaCrosse Open Dec. 9 CUW got 4th-place finishes from Joe Miller (134) and Tom Roskopf (142).

 

Maranatha Invite Jan. 13 The Falcons had their strongest showing to date, placing 4th out of 14 teams. Chuck Radcliff captured the 126 title, defeating Itasca’s Steve Anczak in the finals, 6-5. Jim Stewart was 2nd at 177 and Tom Roskopf was 3rd at 142.

 

WI Private College Tournament Andy DeLoney won his first collegiate title, wining the 158 lbs. title with Radcliff and Stewart placing 2nd. DeLoney beat Nate Wilke of MSOE in the finals by injury default. Team Scores: Lawrence 114.5, Carroll 72.5, Concordia 49.5, Lakeland 34.5, MSOE 32.5, Maranatha Baptist 18, Northland Baptist 7.

 

Concordia (IL) Cougar Classic Feb. 3 Jim Stewart placed 2nd, dropping a 4-0 decision to Olivet’s Dennis Delano in the finals. The Falcons placed five wrestlers in the top 6 in their weights, including Bryan Hilton’s 3rd-place finish at 167. Hilton defeated Millikin’s Mike Fahey, 4-3, for third. Team scores: Olivet MI 188.5, NE Missouri State 123.5, Monmouth IL 71.5, UW-Whitewater 61.5, Illinois College 58, Millikin IL 56, Concordia

(WI) 55.5, Manchester IN 47.5, North Central 12, Concordia IL & Elmhurst 3, Oakton CC 0.

 

Lake Michigan Conference Meet CUW won their second straight title scoring 105 points to get past second-place Lakeland by 2-1/2 points. The Falcons had four individual champions: Chuck Radcliff (126), Jeff Harris (142), Bryan Hilton (167), and Jim Stewart (177). Team Scores: Concordia 105, Lakeland 102.5, Maranatha Baptist 33.5, MSOE 32.5, Concordia IL 25, Martin Luther 19.5, Northland Baptist 6.

NAIA National Championships Jamestown, ND Freshman Jim Stewart went 1-2 at 177 lbs. to pace the three Falcon qualifiers. After dropping a 8-4 decision to Sarge Truesdall of Valley City (ND), Stewart bounced back with a 7-3 win over Kurt Walag of Embry-Riddle (AZ). Stewart then lost to finish the season 24-13, leading the team in wins.

 

Chuck Radcliff (126) and Jeff Harris (142) each went 0-2 at the national tournament. The Falcons placed 20th as a team to finish the season. Missouri Valley won the team title with 124 pts., followed by Mary (ND), Lindenwood (MO), Findlay (OH), and Southern Oregon.
