Women’s Lacrosse hangs on to defeat Northwestern

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons gave up the final two goals in the final five minutes, but Concordia Wisconsin protected their lead to the end to defeat Northwestern-St. Paul 13-12 on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Falcons scored first on a Lauren Paquin (Waukesha, Wis.) goal.
-The Eagles took their lone lead of the game with 17:43 left in the first half as Hannah Shands scored to put them up 2-1.
-CUW closed out the first half with three consecutive goals to go up 7-4.
-The second half saw the Eagles double their goal output from the first as they scored eight times.
-Megan McPike (Mequon, Wis.) scored the final goal for the Falcons with 6:17 remaining to put them up 13-10.
-Talia Sherry made things interesting in the final minutes scoring with 5:02 remaining to get the Eagles within two before scoring again with 1:07 left to cut the Falcon's lead to one.
-CUW held on in the final minute to preserve their lead and take the win.
-Paquin and McPike each had four goals to lead the Falcons.
-Kinsey Weyer (Stillwater, Minn.) had nine saves in goal for CUW.
