Falcons-Blugolds skate to 2-2 draw
Eau Claire
Sarah Luberda scored a power play goal with just :90 seconds
remaining in regulation to salvage a 2-2 tie for the Falcons
against host UW-Eau Claire Saturday afternoon.
Concordia (11-9-3) dominated statistically against the talented
Blugolds (12-5-4) but Mara Stormer turned away 39 Falcon shots.
She was magnificent in the third period when Jim Ingman's team got
a second burst of energy and blasted 21 shots on goal. "Their
goalie 'stood on her head'," said Ingman. "She was a difference
maker."
Alisha Java scored the first goal for CUW with that lamp lighter
tying the match at 1-1 in the second period.
UW-Eau Claire appeared to have gotten the game-winner with less
than four minutes remaining, but Luberda's answering tally saved a
piece of the weekend for Concordia.
CUW is 9-6-3 in NCHA action while UW-Eau Claire has a 9-4-3 record
in league play. The Falcons have gone 1-1-1 on the road against
ranked opponents the past two weekends.
