Men's Track & Field Wins at WLC

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The Falcons brought some hardware back to campus on Saturday afternoon after they claimed the Wisconsin Lutheran Green & White Invite title. The Falcons took the crown with 234 points. They finished 72 points ahead of the host Warriors at 162 points in the 12-team field.

Senior Gideon Cain (Cedarburg, Wis.) was the individual champion in the hammer throw when he broke his own school record with a mark of 51.30 meters. Freshman Mitchell Moeller (Cedarburg, Wis.) was the bronze medalist at 39.07 meters and junior Seth Day (Sunset Hills, Mo.) finished in fourth place at 31.06 meters.

Sophomore Jacob Kelm (Cedarburg, Wis.) was the champion in the 110-meter hurdle at 15.42. Freshman Bernie Van Den Heuvel (Valders, Wis.) had a third-place time of 16.96.

The Falcons cleaned up in the long jump pit on Saturday. Sophomore Austin Thur (Bloomer, Wis.) was the champion at 6.31 meters. Sophomore Nate Bloxdorf (Hartford, Wis.) was in second place at 6.25 meters. Junior Isaac Zahrt (Kronenwetter, Wis.) was in fourth place at 5.60 meters.

Gideon Cain added to his gold medal collection with the discus crown at 44.75 meters. Mitchell Moeller was the silver medalist at 41.35 meters. Seth Day secured fourth place at 36.79 meters and junior Theodore Ryder (Denver, Colo.) gave the Falcons a point in eighth place at 28.90 meters.

Junior Easton Becker (Ankeny, Iowa) took the crown in the 800-meter run with a winning time of 2:03.52. Sophomore Joshua Peterson (Palatine, Ill.) picked up a sixth-place time of 2:13.64.

Cain completed the golden sweep in the shot put at 15.11 meters. Mitchell Moeller posted a third-place mark of 12.64 meters. Seth Day dropped a fourth-place mark of 12.31 meters. Freshman Jacob Couillard (Kingsford, Mich.) collected a sixth-place mark of 10.69 meters and Theodore Ryder was in eighth place at 9.63 meters.

Senior Christian Prohl (Downers Grove, Ill.) was the second-fastest runner in th3 400-meter dash at 51.25. Junior Paul Witto (Charleston, S.C.) finished ninth at 56.49 and sophomore Jack Ramstack (Colgate, Wis.) was 11th at 56.78.

The birds snagged second place in the 4x400 meter relay. The team of Easton Becker, senior William Ebel (Macomb, Mich.), Paul Witto and Josh Peterson clocked in at 3:42.36.

Seth Day led CUW in the javelin throw in third place at 49.16 meters. Isaac Zahrt was in fourth place at 38.79 meters. Konnor Kingsmore sat in sixth place at 34.15 meters and sophomore Colin Rerecich (Henderson, Nev.) was in seventh at 33.44 meters.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Jacob Kelm finished in third place at 1:02.88 and Bernie Van Den Heuvel was in fourth place at 1:04.54.

Jacob Couillard was the bronze medalist in the pole vault at 3.20 meters.

Sophomore Richard Schaefer (Racine, Wis.) secured the third-fastest time in the 5000-meter run at 17:00.85.

The Falcons finished in third place in the 4x100 meter relay. The team of Christian Prohl, freshman Zac Ballard (Paramount, Calif.), Konnor Kingsmore and freshman Tevin Matthew (Milwaukee, Wis.) clocked in at 44.28.

The triple jump saw Austin Thur finish in fourth place at 12.64 meters and Isaac Zahrt in fifth place at 12.09 meters.

Christian Prohl picked up the fastest CUW time in the 200-meter dash in fourth place at 22.70. Sophomore Robert Taylor (Miami, Fla.) took seventh place for the Falcons at 23.43. Zac Ballard picked up a point in ninth place at 23.94.

Sophomore Ryan Klug (Arlington, Va.) crossed the finish line at 4:52.79 in sixth place in the 1500-meter run.

Zach Ballard advanced to the 100-meter dash finals on Saturday and finished ninth at 11.42. He posted a time of 11.35 in the prelims. Konnor Kingsmore, Tevin Matthews and Nate Bloxdorf were the first three to miss the finals at 11.56, 11.68 and 11.69 respectively.

CUW will look to build off this victory when it finishes the regular season on Saturday at St. Norbert.
