NEWSWORTHY NOTES
- TRIPLE-DOUBLE HISTORY:
Eric Kittel had a memorable performance on Saturday, recording the first known triple-double in program history with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. For good measure, he also had five assists to top off a game for the record books. What is more astonishing is that the senior didn't have a double-double to his name.
- KEEP ON ROLLIN': Concordia Wisconsin has things figured out with its five-game winning streak, defeating opponents by an average of 12.8 during the last week-plus. It is the 11th time in head coach Shawn Cassidy's tenure the Falcons have put together a streak of at least five wins in a row. The longest is winning streak is eight-consecutive during the 2010-11 season, which is also the longest for the program in the NCAA era.
- KITTEL KNOCKING DOWN RECORDS: It's starting to get difficult keeping track of the career records Eric Kittel owns and is on pace to break. Entering Wednesday's game he is the program's all-time leader in 3-point FGs made (233) and is the top scorer in the NCAA era (1,314 points). The senior guard is also fifth all-time in assists (327), tied for fourth in steals (189), second in 3-point FGs attempted (571). In addition, he needs 177 points over the remainder of the season to become the greatest scorer in program history.
- RIVALRY, OF COURSE: Rivalry is defined in brief as 'competition for superiority in the same field'. It's safe to say the history between the Falcons and Muskies can be classified as a rivalry. The series between the two is separated by a game (CUW leads 22-21) since 1997 and dating back to the 1960s it is just as close (CUW leads 60-57).
