Baseball drops second straight in Florida

LAKE MYRTLE, Fla. – The Concordia University Wisconsin baseball team dropped its second game in a row in Florida, falling to Grinnell College, 9-3, on Thursday afternoon.

The Falcons struck first as they pushed two runs across in the first frame. Junior Beau Burgert (Oshkosh, Wis.) had a two-out double for CUW and sophomore Joel Sharon (Glendale, Wis.) picked up a RBI single in the opening inning.

That lead would not last, however, as Grinnell would warm up the bats en route to the 9-4 victory. Junior Austin Baglow (Walled Lake, Mich.) took the loss on the mound for CUW, as he started the contest.

Senior Daniel Mueller (West Bend, Wis.), junior Jay Kuczysnki (Cedarburg, Wis.), and freshman Nick Yenter (Rosholt, Wis.) all tallied base hits for the Falcons in the loss. Final statistics for the game have not yet been provided.

CUW (0-2) returns to the ball diamond tomorrow when they take on St. Olaf College in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1:30 p.m. EDT in Lake Myrtle, Fla.
