Falcons perform well in season-opening loss to Oregon

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin performed well, setting new program records in several heats and events, despite a season-opening 278.420 – 246.305 loss to Oregon on Sunday afternoon inside the R. John Buuck Field House.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons set or tied a program record in numerous heats and Events throughout its season-opening meet against Oregon. In all, they set new program bests in 12 heats and three Events, to go along with setting a new meet record score of 246.305.
- The Falcons began the meet with a 35.20 score in the four-heat Compulsory Event and followed it with a 23.30 score in the three-heat Acro Event. They then compiled a 28.15 score in the Pyramid Event to put themselves down by 10.80 points to Oregon at halftime.
- Oregon had scores of 38.65 (Compulsory), 29.05 (Acro) and 29.75 (Pyramid) for a total of 97.45 at halftime.
- CUW recorded a 26.80 in the three-heat Toss Event prior to putting together a 47.325 score in the Tumbling Event. The Falcons then ended with an 85.53 score in the Team Event.
- Oregon posted a score of 28.95 in the Toss Event, 56.100 in the Tumbling Event and finished with a 95.92 in the Team Event.

BEYOND THE RESULTS
- CUW posted new program bests in the following heats:
* Compulsory: acro heat (8.40), pyramid heat (9.60), tumbling heat (7.65)
* Pyramid: heat 1 – flip (9.80), heat 2 – twist (9.90)
* Toss: heat 1 – 2 element (8.80), heat 2 – synchronized (8.95), heat 3 – open (9.05)
* Tumbling: duo pass (8.15), triple pass (7.90), 6 element pass (9.325), open pass (8.625)
- The Falcons also had program records in the Compulsory Event (35.20), Toss Event (26.80) and Tumbling Event (47.325).
- Oregon has won four of the five National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association Championships, since the organizations inception in 2011. 

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons return to competition on Saturday, February 20 with a dual meet at Gannon. The event starts at 1 pm CST.
